As one of L.A.'s newest and most exciting communities, Playa Vista offers quality of living, all around convenience and much more than just a beautiful place to live. The Flexner Group invites you to explore and become part of a community where you'll truly feel at home.
Playa Vista is a new city that was essentially a project, selected by former President Bill Clinton as one of five P.A.T.H communities in the United States. P.A.T.H stands for Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing and is under leadership of the U.S. Department of Energy's Building America program. Playa Vista has recently been recognized as a model "smart growth" project and was awarded the Ahwahnee award.
Playa Vista sits on 1,087 acres located south of Marina del Rey, with Playa del Rey and Westchester to the south, I-405 on the east side, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Howard Hughes owned large sections of Playa Vista in the early 1940s and utilized the land for his aviation empire. This site was the aerospace facility housing helicopters, airplanes, satellites, and was the center for radar and missile systems. In 1994 Hughes and McDonnell Douglas moved their site to other facilities.
Phase One of Playa Vista has been completed including about 3,000 new residential units available in a variety of housing types. The housing ranges from luxury single family residences, town homes and condominiums to affordable apartments. In addition to numerous parks and recreational amenities, this residential development also includes Concert Park and the Shops at Concert Park, the Playa Vista Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, the Center Pointe Club (for residents of the development), and Los Angeles Fire Department station number 67.
The development of Playa Vista continues to create many jobs for the citizens of the neighboring areas. The world's leading video-game publisher, Electronic Arts, houses more than 600 employees at its futuristic studio at Playa Vista's Water's Edge complex. In the Campus area, the Los Angeles Clippers have almost completed their new training facility. The biggest independent advertising agency headquartered in California, Rubin Postaer & Associates, plans to move 575 employees into the former U.S Postal distribution center in November 2010 when a makeover of the building is complete. A Sunrise Senior Living facility opened in 2006. The retail shops at Concert Park include a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Pinkberry, Bank of America, Yummy.com and Piknic Restaurant.
Much of the project, however, was focused on restoring the Ballona Wetlands which restored the habitat for many endangered species. Regarding humanitarianism, Playa Vista has sponsored a program called PVJOBS, that helps at-risks youths and adults find construction jobs in the area.
The Flexner Group has sold and leased more units in Playa Vista than any other agent or team. For a list of our current inventory or a personal pricing consultation, please contact us!
